When the winter season is over, it all melts down and return to Torne River as part of a perfect cycle.” - Press release, ICEHOTEL

The Monstera Art Suite by Kauppi & Kauppi: "Step inside a frozen winter garden, softly lit, where you can fall a sleep on a bed embraced by Monstera leaves of different shapes and sizes. The Monstera grows in many variations with an underlying bone structrue ending in soft curves. Contemplate the beautiful shapes of your private greenhouse before dozing off, dreaming wonderful things. Sweet dreams are made of leaves."

Icehotel 365. All year 2016/18

Kauppi & Kauppi were two of the invited artists to contribute with our design in the creation of the ICEHOTEL 365, an all year around new addition to the world-famous original hotel and art exhibition.

Until 2016 it was only possible to sleep in the hotel during the winter months. ICEHOTEL 365´s structure, cooled by solar panels, makes it possible to remain the crisp icy rooms even in summer and the hotel can be visited year-round. Jukkasjärvi is situated 200 km north of the Arctic Circle and during summer the sun remains above the horizon for 100 consecutive days. ICEHOTEL 365 opened December 2017 in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden

The deluxe suite "Blue Houses" by Kauppi & Kauppi is a little village of houses built out of strong snow walls and beautiful ice windows. The cold materials are formed to iconic shapes with clear lines, where dreamy dimmed light reflects from the inaccessible insides. Many other houses will be standing for hundreds of years and the materials will leave traces even when the house is gone, retelling its story. The day Blue Houses melts to the ground they will leave no other trace than perhaps a growing sprout of a watered seed.
